Parents & Educators
The library has a variety of parenting and teaching materials. They are located in the Adult nonfiction department and cover a range of topics such as child-rearing, teaching aids, child psychology, and literacy. In addition, we have special collections which may be useful for classroom and home use, including our storytime and book club kits and world language section.
Classroom Cooperation & Outreach
We are always interested in working with teachers to ensure that we have enough material to support research and reading assignments. If you are a teacher with an upcoming assignment, let us know any research needs by emailing us at westallegheny@westernalleghenylibrary.org so we are prepared for your students. We can also help you introduce great books to your students by preparing collections of materials relevant to your curriculum. With two weeks notices, our Youth Services staff will prepare a collection of titles that can be used in your classroom. The library can also accommodate group visits for classes, homeschool students, and scouts. Please contact the Youth Services Department at (724) 695-8150 to schedule a visit or for more information. Be sure to ask about getting a classroom library card, which gives full access to our online resources and research databases.
