What is a hotspot? A hotspot is an easy-to-use mobile device that connects your tablet, laptop, or other Wi-Fi enabled device to the internet. Western Allegheny Community Library has recently acquired two mobile hotspots for checkout to library members.
How much does it cost? Borrowing and using the device is FREE! If the device is lost or damaged beyond repair, a replacement fee will be charged to your Library account.
Is there a limit on usage? You can connect up to 10 devices at a time, with unlimited data for the duration of the checkout. Download speeds may vary according to network coverage (3G/4G).
How do I check out the device? Stop by the library front desk or call to ask for availability. Use your library card to place a hold or check it out like any other item.
How long can I keep it? Hotspots check out for one week and are not renewable. Devices should be returned to Western Allegheny Community Library during open hours (not in the book drop). Overdue hotspots will accrue late fees, and Internet access will be remotely deactivated within 24 hours beyond the due date.
What if I need some help? Ask at the front desk for information about using the hotspot before checking one out, or call the library if you have any trouble using the device from home.
