South Side Historical Village Tour
Come take a tour of the South Side Historical Village! We will tour the restored 1874 Mercer one-room school house, the Porter blacksmith shop with demonstrations in metal arts, the Johnson 1800’s log cabin showing the rural home life, a large outdoor brick bread oven, a pedestrian covered bridge, a General Store, the Glenn class bank barn built in 1858 displaying antique agriculture equipment, and the Nelson doctor’s office built in the 1800’s. Those attending will meet at 10 a.m. at the Village which is located at 1198 State Route 168 in Hookstown, PA (at the Hookstown Fairgrounds). There is no charge but donations to the South Side Historical Association would be appreciated. The South Side Historic Village Association was established to collect, preserve and interpret 1880’s-1890’s American Life in a working community in the style of Colonial Williamsburg.
