Wildlife Workshop

August 18 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

|

Presented by the Pennsylvania Game Commission

This presentation will cover some of the most interesting bits and pieces of wildlife education. We will discuss who in Pennsylvania is responsible for managing our wildlife, the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and where the agency receives their funding from, primarily hunting and trapping license revenue. We will talk about some of the most charismatic (what some would call nuisance) wildlife in PA – including black bears, elk, coyotes, white-tailed deer, etc., and how to peacefully coexist with these animals. We will cover more topics such a albinism/piebaldism in white-tailed deer, what to do if you encounter baby wildlife in the summer, how feeding deer in the winter is everything but helpful to them, and how to minimize the risk of Lyme disease year-round while living in the leading state for new cases. We will also discuss information about feral cats and their negative impact on wildlife, being that they are one of our top invasive species.
