Exciting Excursions: West Virginia Penitentiary
April 6 @ 9:00 am|
Meet us at the library, then we’ll carpool/caravan down to WV for a fun-filled day! 90-minute guided tour of the Penitentiary will consist of an astonishing history, a touch of art, cold hard facts, and an insight into the justice system. We’ll walk through this Gothic-style structure, visit the recreation yards, visitation rooms, and the new cafeteria that resulted from the riot of 1986. You will also take a walk through the cell blocks, including “The Alamo,” which once housed the most dangerous and violent inmates, and “New Wall,” where you just might get LOCKED UP! Then we’ll head to a local restaurant for lunch (Dutch treat). Tour tickets can be purchased at the door ($14 for adults and $11 for seniors 55+). Registration is required; contact Amy with questions, email@example.com.
