We are excited to welcome Bonnie Lowery to the library for a series of holistic wellness sessions. Bonnie, a Robinson Township resident, has been a certified Reflexologist since 2003 and a practicing Usui Reiki Master Teacher since 1996. For four years, Bonnie was the lead Reflexologist at the Ft. Hood Warrior Combat Stress Reset program, an outpatient clinic integrating complementary alternative medicine for the treatment of PTSD. As an avid student of energy medicine, she is also certified in Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT), Theta Healing, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Korean Hand Therapy (KHT), and flower essences.
So what exactly is Reflexology? Believe it or not, there are 7200 nerve endings in the feet which access all organs and systems of the body. Think of it in the terms of how Chiropractic medicine focuses on the relationship between the spine and all other functions. If you correct or realign the spine, you will feel relief in other areas. As such, reflexology manipulates specific points in the circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems on the hands and feet. These areas are stimulated to encourage a rebalancing within your entire body. Your body inherently knows how to repair itself; Reflexology sets it all in motion.
Reflexology can relieve:
- Sinus problems
- Inflammatory conditions
- Menstrual irregularities
- Tension and anxiety
- Neck, back and shoulder pain
- Other maladies resulting from stress and system imbalances
- Emotional pain
Bonnie will be sharing basic techniques and how you can use them on yourself and others. This will be a hands-on experience and leave you with the tools to practice basic reflexology in your daily life. See our online calendar to sign up for this and other programs with Bonnie Lowery:
